Edgar Winter Interview

Edgar Winter

I got to visit and interview brilliant and legendary musician Edgar Winter
at his home in southern California on my trip to Los Angeles. Edgar along
with his older brother Johnny represent the tippy top end of the entire
musical spectrum and they are among two of the very best. They’ve provided
much of the soundtrack of my life about as much as the Beatles did and it was
a pleasure talking to this true American legend. This is a long one,
clocking in at a little over two and a half hours. Edgar really opened up talked
about everything including the first music he remembers hearing, his early
days as a musician playing rowdy bars and joints in Texas and Louisiana,
playing the Woodstock Festival with Johnny, a near embarrassing mishap he had
onstage at the Apollo Theater, drugs, touring with Ringo Starr, the love he
and his wife Monique share, some of his favorite musicians and some of his
maybe lesser known, but absolutely brilliant albums that should most
definitely be heard. At the end of the interview Edgar read some beautiful
poetry he’d written that as of this writing I don’t believe anyone has heard
yet! As long as the interview is I couldn’t edit any of it out because
everything he said was brilliant, riviting and just plain cool, so here it is in
it’s entirety. Hope you enjoy it.
